Empire Pump’s Self Priming Pumps are manufactured for solution transfer applications associated with many industries. The pumps can be constructed from either polypropylene, CPVC and PVDF materials providing chemical resistance against highly corrosive solutions. The pump design incorporates a mechanical seal which can be manufactured with silicon carbide or carbon ceramic seal faces, alternative elastomers are available. Dilute solutions such as effluent treatment and waste water would utilise a carbon ceramic mechanical seal and pumps supplied for aggressive chemistry like sulphuric, hydrochloric and nitric acids would use a silicon carbide mechanical seal.

The range is designed to achieve flow rates ranging from 0 to 650 l/min and overcome discharge head up to 24m. The self-priming capability gives a real benefit when transferring solutions from sumps and effluent pits. Our Self Priming range of pumps can overcome sump depths of up to 6m.

The Self Priming pump suction inlet is designed with a sump pot and check valve to ensure the pump always maintains prime. The unique suction casing design provides protection to the mechanical seal. The self-priming pump is especially advantageous for effluent treatment processes where it is common for leaves and particulate to be present within the solution.
